It has been a little over a month following my third trip to Washington D.C for the OCNA conference. This conference is sponsored by the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance and is filled with opportunities to gain information on the latest research and treatments, network with other survivors or supporters and also advocate for the disease.

This year was absolutely a wonderful experience on so many levels! The first year I attended with my mother, one of the most fond memories that I shared with her was walking around capitol hill and speaking with the politicians demanding change for this disease. The second year was made in honor of my mother as she had died 6 months earlier. This year was ver empowering and purposeful.

I was amazed and encouraged to meet so many wonderful daughters who attended the conference! What a force we are in the face of this disease! We have heavy hearts, fresh faces and fighting spirits determined to change things in honor of our mothers and in dedication to the next generation of daughters who are cheering us on! Looking forward to all the great work that this group is capable of!

Please post your ideas about September awareness month and what you are doing in your communities. I will be calling all television stations and newspaper editors today to ask who would be interested in a piece about OVCA awareness and womens health.
